Happy Birthday, Dalton!!

Dalton turns 9 on Monday, April 27th!!

Happy Birthday, buddie!!

Here are our NINE favorite things about Dalton~

He has such a tender heart! He always feels for other people when they are down.
He is very smart. He does very good in school and always tries his best.
He hates litter. Even as a 2 year old, he would run across the playground to pick up a piece of garbage. He is still that way today.
He is such a great big brother. He is alwyas looking out for his brother. They are the best of friends.
He is honest. He speaks his mind. He is not shy to say what he feels.
He is like his dad. They both love to fix things and make things work.
Dalton is a good friend. He likes everyone and plays fairly with others.
Dalton is happy. He is always making us laugh at his jokes and silly faces.
He wants to be Tiffany's assistant at work. (I love his goals!)

For his birthday party, he invited Jaxson and 3 other friends and they went to McDonalds for lunch and then we went over to the movies. We watches Monsters vs Aliens in 3D. THey boys LOVED it! They wore their glasses all evening long.Here are they boys and their MONSTER faces.

After the movie, we came back to the house for presents and cake.

Dalton loved how Grandma Dar put NINE of this favorite candy bars on the front of his gift.

Dalton has had 2 soccer games so far. They have won them both. They have a great team. It is fun to see them pass the ball to each other and follow plays. Dlaton scored a goal at his last game. We were all so excited about it!!

We had Pack Meeting for scouts last Thursday. Dalton received his Wolf, his Bobcat, 3 arrow points and 2 belt loops. He has been working very hard in scouts. He is now working on his Bear award. They have a tradition that when the boys get an award, they have a pin that they pin on the moms. Here I am getting pinned. Well, Dalton wanted Tracey to get pinned too, so on his next award, Tracey got the pin. It was so cute.

Happy Easter from The Mitchell Family!!!

Here are the boys showing off Jaxson's school art for the Easter holiday. The boys just LOVE to color eggs. They aren't really into all the stickers, glitter, and stuff, they just like to make colors!

We took the boys bowling at Pinecrest Lanes this past weekend. The balls were heavier than the boys liked, so they had this ramp that they could roll their ball off of. You should have seen Jaxson squat down and "eye up" the direction of the ramp. Dalton was readily availabe to give a bit of advice.

I just love this photo....Come on people, you HAVE to love the bowling shoes!!

Spring Break..What we've been up to....

What Jax has been up to.....

Loosing his TWO FRONT TEETH! I finally talked him into letting me pull them. I asked him last week if I could pull them out and he got really sad and said "Mom, I need just two more days with them.". Two more days it was, then out they came. Just before I pulled them out, Jax showed me how he could make his two teeth overlap and then he made one bend forward and one bend back. They were barely hanging on by a thread.

What I just finished reading.......

This is the biography book of Kelly Perkins. She is the heart transplant patient that I will be climbing the Grand Teton with this fall. She is such an inspiration.

What is bringing me inspiration.....

What I have been making.....

Watches!!!! They are so addicting! My fav so far is the brown wood watch, although I have a purple one in progress that may soon be on the top of the list. Loved the wood beads so much that I made a necklace too.

What color I love.......

GREEN!!! I have green watches, a green blog, green work clothes, and thanks to MM, green scrapbook stuff!! Found this pile of green goodness at Porters in Rexburg. After my ETM assignments, I am going to dive into these!

What happened at our photo shoot....

I took the boys down to a few different alleys in downtown Idaho Falls. The wind picked up and it was a little chilly but I did manage to get a few good shots. Here are a few more.....

Our last 4 months-recapped!

Okay~Just call me the worst blogger ever! 4 months since my last post! I will do my best to recap what all we have been doing, starting with the most recent......

We took the boys up to Bear World on Saturday and had their picture taken with the 8 week old bear cubs. They were so cute!! We were able to hold them for a little bit. They were about 1 foot long. Their claws were about one inch long already. Need to scan those photos into the computer and i will post them later.

Been doing a lot of this........
I am trying to be more consistent with exercise. Here's why. There is this gal, Kelly Perkins, who had a heart transplant 13 years ago. She was an avid climber before her surgery, and as part of her rehabilitation, she continues to climb mountains. She has hiked Mount Hood, Kilimanjaro, El Capitan, and Whitney. She is coming to Idaho Falls in August to give a motivational seminar about heart health and organ donation. She is also going to climb The Grand Teton. (She will be the first heart transplant recipient to climb the Grand) 4 of my nurse coworkers and I in Cardiac Rehab are going to hike with her! This will be such a great experience. We are all excited about the challenge.

It is finally starting to look like spring! The boys begged us to get out their bikes and roller blades. We spent one Saturday over to the church riding around and having a picnic. The boys have also got out their football and been tossing that around with Dad.

Tracey has been working hard on finishing my scrapbook room. Take a look...

He finished the window casing, and framed in this shelf that runs the length of the room. It looks so great! I love having a place to display all of my favorite things.

We also rearranged the room a little. Bought some more storage cubes from Roberts and Tracey made a built-in corner desk. I just love it!! Everything is so tidy and organized!

Overall, we have all been pretty healthy this winter/spring. Jaxson did have trouble with his asthma and got pneumonia. He spent one day in the hospital and then recovered the rest of the way at home. He really bounces back quickly.

Took a drive to Shelly and Blackfoot to see the condition of the boat docks. Talked the boys into a family picture. It turned out adorable!
Todd, Emily, and the kids came to Idaho for a visit in January. We celebrated all the recent birthdays and Christmas while they were here. Grandma Marti rented a hotel room and we stayed the night there. The kids loved the pool and had a great time "on vacation". We took family pictures while they were here. Here are a few........

Found a new past time....BEADING! I went to a watch party by Hoppers. (See Karri Nelson's blog for photos of watches). I am addicted. I love those big chunky watches. Then, the next day, Mom, a friend Kim, and I took a watch making class at Roberts. It was a blast!! I now have watches in Purple, burgundy, green, brown and white. I love how you can clip off the band and change watch faces. I will post some of my creations.
Scoped out the local climbing gym to help with my climb of the Grand. Took Dalton with me. Here he is climbing a few walls. He did great with the heights.

Starting to plan Girls Camp for this July. Going to Bear Lake. So many fun, outdoor activities planned (water skiing, repelling, skeet shooting, horseback riding, and caving)
The boys are going awesome in school. Jaxson is reading well and getting "big fat A+'s" on all his homework. Dalton is reaching his reading goals and doing tons of fun science experiments.

Dalton is busy with scouts. He loves all of the activities they get to do. Last week they went to the Vet clinic. He just received badges for fishing, swimming, and soccer.

Whew~that was a very quick ride! Look for updates coming soon about Dalton starting soccer and Jaxson loosing his two front teeth!

Happy Birthday, JaxsonReading is Fun(Not so)Extreme Home Makeover

Six years ago, from November 10th, 2008, we were blessed as a family by adding another member to it. Jaxson Thomas was born at 1:55 pm. He has continued to be a blessing to us.

This year he turned 6! I thought I would list six funny things about this funny boy.

He has a SUPER memory. He recites commercials or TV shows after just seeing them once. People leave their numbers on our answering machine, Jaxson will remember them for months!!
This boy LOVES to read. When I asked him what he wanted for this birthday, he said "Another set of books, Mom!"
He loves to snug in the recliner. ( Okay, I love it too...)
He is so kind to his brother. Jaxson invited two of Dalton's friends to his birthday party, "so that Dalton will not be lonely."
He decided that he may not get married because "I am going to be driving around all of the time." Apparently, he is going to grow up to be a police man and he will be driving around catching bad guys and wont have time for a wife. Once he reconsidered, he said maybe he could drive around for a few days, and then " stop in and see how his wife is." (I am so glad he plans ahead.)
Jaxson is just a bright spirit and he brings so much happiness and joy into our family. He has a huge heart and an even bigger sense of adventure!

We love you Jax! Happy Birthday!!

His birthday party this year was at Blast Off. Him and 10 friends played in the ball pit, ate pizza, and ran off tons of energy. He got lots of great gifts and then got to take a trip in the balloon prize vault. He had to catch as many balloons as he could. He caught 2 and won a prize.

On evening, I heard the boys giggling uncontrollably. I came downstairs to find this.

I didn't realize how much fun reading was.....

Actually, they were looking at cross sections of machines, trains, planes,buildings, and so forth. There were cartoon pictures of people in their underwear. Somehow this led to the uncontrollable giggling. Go figure...it must be a boy thing...Anyway, it makes me happy to see them doing things together and being happy.

Here are some pictures of the makeover in our master bedroom. It is not anything really major, but we have not changed anything in there since we moved in about 8 years ago. This makeover started because my mom is making us a comforter for Christmas. It is done in shades of purple. I thought that I would change up/update the walls a little since I was getting a new comforter. Here are a few photos. Notice how I used the black chipboard accents to jazz up my photo frames. I also added the rub on scroll to the lampshade and hot glued the fringe on. It was so fun to "makeover" some of the frames, lamps, and pictures that I already had.

These are pillows that my mom and her friend Judy made. They sewed them by hand!I cannot wait til the whole thing is complete. Guess I will have to wait for Christmas!!

Fall leaves, Halloween, and Apples

As fall quickly approaches, I enjoy watching the leaves turn to gorgeous shades of yellow, orange, burgundy, and red.

The boys and I raked all of the leaves, but I could not help but let them jump into the last pile.

Halloween came fast this year. The boys love to carve pumpkins!! They both like to do it all themselves and they each have their own ideas of what they want it to look like. Here are the results.

We did our annual trick or treating with Tammy. She was a princess this year. That girl LOVES Halloween.

After that, we gathered treats from Grandma Marti and headed over to see Grandma Dar and Papa. The boys filled their sacks with all the goodies from them too. We then went home and i expected the boys to want to go get more candy, but they started answering the door and handing out candy. They had a blast! They got to see all the kids and the fun costumes. Every time the doorbell rang, they would break out into giggles.

We have gotten a lot of apples from my friend Cathy, and I have been drying them.

Jaxson helped me peel them with our peeler. He thought that was the coolest thing!!

I have now expanded the menu of dried fruits to pineapple, cherries, apricots, blueberries, and oranges. Mix all these delights together and you have a healthy (delicious) snack.

Oh, where Oh, where, have I been?!?!

I really cannot believe that it has been two months since I have last posted. Anyways, here is an overview of what we have been up to in the last few months.

Eastern Idaho State Fair

Mom and I always enter items into the craft areas of the fair. I entered a clear acrylic album that had all of the flower photos from our trip to DC. I also entered a western chipboard album that was of a trip mom and Ruth took up to Salmon. Both won 1st place!! I won two huge baskets of scrapbooking supplies. It was so awesome!!

Mom entered this western blanket that she made. Isn't it gorgeous!

Creative Escape in Arizona

Mom and i went to Arizona together. She went to visit family and I went to a scrapbook convention. We had so much fun! The first thing I did was had lunch with my friend, Jena, who used to work with me at the hospital. She now lives in Arizona. It was so great to meet with her and get caught up on what has been happening in her life.

Here are photos of the resort that we stayed at. It was the Wild Horse Pass Resort. The scenery was breathtaking!! Take a look for yourself...

Part of the experience was to visit the Bazzill Paper Warehouse and the Scrapbooks Etc. Store. They were awesome!! Tons of shopping!!

Soccer

Dalton started playing soccer this fall. His team was the Lightening Bolts. He did very well. He learned a lot and his coach was great.

Hunting Season

Tracey had been doing some hunting this fall. He has gone out a few times for deer and more frequently for game birds. No deer brought home yet, but lots of limits on birds.

Layton

Mom and I took the boys to Layton for a few days. Todd (my brother) was down there from Seattle to help out a new manager. We stayed with him for a few days. It was so fun. The boys loved the pool! Dalton is swimming like a pro

Jaxson is catching on too.

They would have spent 24/7 in the pool if I let them. We also did some shopping, sight seeing, and then had dinner with Todd. It was great to see him. We miss him and Em and the kids!!

QVC

Still waiting to hear for sure of the air date for my QVC appearance. I am having some fliers printed up to hand out when I know the date for sure

It seems that I should have more to post in two months, but these are the highlights.

A moment of downtime...

I found one.......a moment of downtime, so I thought that i better post my pictures on my blog. Here are some of the pictures from our annual family reunion at Lava Hot Springs.

Highlights:

Jaxson was cleared to ride the water slides. He was so excited. He loved them. He was about 1 inch over the required height line.

Dalton is swimming!! No lessons, just tips from cousin Caylie, and a sense of adventure! Way to go buddy!

Had one night of terrible winds. Had to move Todd and family into our trailer it was so bad. When we got up the next morning, there were branches scattered all over the campground.

I went to the Lisa Bearnson Adventure. I took a photography class at the Thanksgiving Point Gardens. It was so beautiful. The class was really helpful, the teacher was superb. Took tons of pictures of the flowers and scenery. Here are some of my favorites....

I went to the classes by my self, but ended up meeting some great friends! Here they are along with some photos of me and Lisa....
Oh yea, we went shopping while we were there. It was so great!! Here is my loot from Making Memories. Oh yea, when we toured Rusty Pickle, they had this delicious chocolate fountain for us. It was so yummy!!
Spent one Sunday up to Blacktail. We swam around and caught some fish. The weather was great and so was the fishing!!

So, Dalton started soccer. His first game is this Wednesday. We have been practicing at home and he is getting into shape.

The first day of school has come and gone. Both boys were up before the crack of dawn, dressed with backpacks on by 0700. Here is our traditional family picture.

And yes, that is a black eye on Jaxson. He bumped heads with the neighbor kid during a race. Just how I wanted to take my son to the doctor for his school shots----with a huge shiner.

The kindergartners don't ride the bus for the first three days, so I took Jaxson. Here he is in his classroom.

I then snuck over to Dalton's class and said hello to him.

We didn't go to Island Park this weekend. Stayed home and did some DEEP cleaning. Scrapbook room cleaned top to bottom, reorganized and rearranged. Same with the closets and bathrooms. Lots of work, but it was great to get done.

Taking it easy today, going to watch the last day of the Olympics, maybe go to a movie, get caught up on my blog-surfing. Nothing too stressful. Have a great week!!

Hello~
I am back in town. I have so many fun things to share with you....

I have a new addition to our family.......a new CAMERA.
Thanks to a fishing trip with Dad, the boys also added a lizard and 8 frogs to our family.

Off Playing!

Just a quick Hello to let you know that I will be off playing for a few days. I am attending the Lisa Bearnson Backyard Adventure. It is a three day scrapbook convention where you tour the manufactures like MM, CK, Scenic Route, and Rusty Pickle. I am also taking a photography class and an album class. So excited!! Then when I get back , head to work for 2 days and then off we go to Lava Hot Springs for our family reunion. I am sure that I will have tons of pictures and lots to report when I get back. Washingtone D.C cont....Arlington Cemetary, flowers, and more.

I just had my photos printed yesterday and it was so much fun to look back over them. I felt like I was there all over again. That is what I love so much about scrapbooking, you can capture those memories for a lifetime, and revisit them every day. Anyways, here is a look at the rest of the pictures.

At the end of the day on Friday, we made a mad rush to Arlington Cemetery. I really wanted to see it but I know we would only have about 1/2 hour to walk through it. Thank goodness they let us stay a little bit longer. I have to say, I had NO idea about how big this place was. I remember walking up the road and there was a heaviness in my chest, it was hard to breathe. It was so silent, I felt like I could hear my heart beat. The feeling of gratitude for our troops and our country was almost overwhelming. Thousands of graves filled the 624 acres of land. There were so many of them, but each one seemed to stand out with its name engraved on it. This was someones husband, brother, son, father...... There was one grave that had been recently dug. It was a feeling of sadness at the loss, mixed with a feeling of pride to be able to stand there a pay respects to someone who I had never met, yet gave his life to protect my country and my rights.

I am still in an appreciation phase, I really wanted to hug every serviceman I saw in the airport or on the street. Still do, so watch out.....

We were able to see the changing of the guard at The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Again, breathtaking to see as you sit on top of the hill overlooking all of the graves and seeing the Washington Monument in the background. Such respect and dignity these men have for their comrades.

Couldn't help but snap tons of pictures, here are a few.

Besides my boys, my favorite things to photograph are flowers and scenery. Here are some of the flowers I found near the Lincoln Memorial and some at the Botanic Gardens.

That pretty much sums up our trip. Now, I get to make a vacation album. Sounds like fun, huh!

Back from QVC and Washington DC

We are back from our vacation to QVC and Washington D.C. Oh my gosh, we had such a great time. Here is a recap with tons of photos.

Tracey and I left last Tuesday morning and drove to SLC. We stopped and met with my printer gal and took a tour of the printing facility. It was really cool to see all of the technology they have.

We then caught the plane to Philly.

Long flight, got there at midnight, had to get a car and drive about 40 minutes to our hotel in West Chester. They have trivia contests between all of the passengers on the flight, and look who won this round. Yes, yours truly!!

The first thing that i noticed when we arrived in PA was the humidity. It felt like we were standing in a closed bathroom where there had been a hot shower running. We caught a few zzzz's and then on Wednesday we went to the QVC studio for my first day of classes.

We had classes on packaging,pricing, shipping, toured the QA departments, and took a tour of the studio (Woo Hoo!!)

Tons of information! I really learned a lot. It was so great to have Tracey there with me. The best thing about QVC was that they gave all of the new vendors the same amount of respect. There was myself, someone from Dell computers, someone from Adobe, a guy selling sausage, gals selling jewelry, and a yo-yo salesman. QVC gets about 12,000 ideas sent to them every year and they only take about a dozen new products on. I cannot believe that I was one of them!!

PA was so green and beautiful. There were so many little quaint towns and buildings. Here are a few of my favorites.

Okay, so Thursday was the second day of classes. This was the really fun day. We met one of the hosts, Dave James, ( he was so cool!) and he talked to us about what so say, what not to say, and what to expect on TV. THEN, we were able to go down to the studio and do practice TV segments! IT WAS SO ROCKIN COOL! I had soooo much fun! We did a 3 minutes segment, then met with our Sales Manager and reviewed what we could do better and. Then we did a 5 minute segment, again reviewing it afterwards. It was weird, I felt so comfortable. No nerves at all. I am telling you, it was a blast!! Here I am outside our classroom with there's one with me and Dave the host. My live

appearance will be in January.

We then drove down to Washington DC and spent the next two nights. We went through this tunnel that goes under the water.

We took the Metro down to DC. That is a pretty sweet system they have.

Wow, can I tell you that we were only in DC for one entire day and seemed to barely be able to see the basics. . We hit all of the highlights.

We saw the Washington Memorial.

We saw the Lincoln Memorial.

We saw the WWII Memorial.

We saw the FDR Memorial.

We saw the Jefferson Memorial.

We saw the Korean War Memorial.

We saw the White House.

We saw the Capitol.

Here are a few shots of the scenery in the heart of DC.

We ended the day at Arlington Cemetery. I will save the pictures for that for another post. That was truly an incredible experience.

I will also post pictures of the flowers outside some of the buildings. So pretty.

It was Tracey and I's 14th wedding anniversary on the 23rd, so we decided to celebrate in DC. We went to dinner at Red Lobster. It was such a good meal! Yummy!!

Saturday we slept in and then travelled back to Philly to catch our flight home. Had a chance to have a Philly CheeseSteak in the airport. Let me tell you, DELISH!!

One we arrived in SLC, we grabbed a bite to eat and then drove home. We were so glad to be home. Missed the boys tons!! Thank goodness for Grandma's who take such good care of them for us!!

Whew, that was a very quick recap of the major events. Such a great trip. Now back to work and spending time with the boys. They seemed to grow a foot while we were gone.

July Madness...

June has come and gone, and July is working her way by in quick fashion. Here's what we've been up to.

Took the boys to Rigby Lake with some neighbors. It was so fun. I think it was close to 100 degrees that day. The water felt great. I loved how close Rigby Lake was and how there was so much sand for the kids to play in.

Had a great 4th of July. Had a BBQ with the neighborhood and then we had a community firework show. It was so great. I talked the boys into a few family photos before the BBQ.

My garden is coming along well.

Everything is growing well, especially the lettuce. We have been having a lot of salads lately. :) We picked our first tomato on Sunday. The peas are still small, but good to eat with Ranch!!

Took a few photos of some of the plants in our yard. Besides mowing and an occasional weeding, the yard and flowerbeds have not been added to. Everything is green and nothing has died this year, so all is well in the yard department.

Tracey and I are going to Philadelphia and Washington DC for the week. I am going to PA to meet with QVC and get the low-down on the whole process. I have two days of classes there, learning about the shipping, processing, and business side of QVC, and then I will do a run through of the TV segment, take a tour of the studio, and meet with the hosts. The next two days we will go down to DC and see the sights. It is our 14th wedding anniversary on the 23rd of this month, s0 its a business/romantic getaway trip. I am sort of nervous, we have never both been gone from the kids at the same time. They are staying with Grandmas for the week, so i know they will be taken care of.

Summer is in full swing.......

Well, we are all hot and happy at the Mitchell house. Summer is in full swing and things don't look like they are slowing down anytime soon. Buckle up, here is our summer ride so far.......

We have been camping quite a bit this summer. We went to Big Elk Creek before Memorial Day, then we went to Massacre Rocks a few weekends later. I went to Girls camp last week (more on that in a minute), and Tracey took the boys up to Palisades for a Father-Son Campout. Needless to say, we are all tan from being outside so much. So far, our camping trips have yielded two large lizards, 5 small lizards, and 2 snakes. Yes, our reptile collection is growing by leaps and bounds.

I didn't have a chance to wish Tracey a Happy Fathers Day!! He is such a good dad. He is so wonderful with the boys. He takes a day off a week to stay home with them when i work. He always seems to have time to clean the house and still have time to take the boys out in the boat for the afternoon. He never lets a teaching moment go by. He is so great about teaching the boys about honesty, responsibility, hard work, and love. We are so blessed to have him in our family!!!

Dalton was baptized. It was a great day! Such a strong spirit we felt. Jaxson was right there on the edge of the font when he was baptized. When Dalton came up out of the water, Jaxson threw his arms up in the air and yells "YEAH". That my boy.

Dalton has started going to Cub Scouts. He looks so cute in his uniform. He went to day camp last week. They were able to ride bikes, do archery, and learn about other countries. He had an awesome time.

Girls camp was so cool! I had a great time and i think that the girls did too. We took 19 girls up to the new stake camp, Camp Cumorah. It is a few miles past the bone store. It was so beautiful!! Our theme was Born To Be A Queen. All of our activities were "royalty" themed. We had so much great food and the girls are so wonderful. They all got along and helped out with everything. Sort of sad that it is over. The girls started calling me Mama Moose, because they said that mama moose always take such good care of their babies, and that I was taking such good care of them. Cute huh!! That explains the antler picture.

Missed my boys so much when i was gone. Dalton has just been my hand-holding-shadow since I came home from camp. He is such a great kid!! Dalton and Jax have come down with a fever the past couple of days (too much sun probably) they have been lying around a lot. Jaxson has wanted me to snug with him. He is getting so tall, and I asked him "What happens when you are too big for me to rock you in the chair?" He responded by saying "Well Mom, we will just move over to the couch!"
So cute!!

I was able to do a little scrapbooking after I went to the ETM Scrapbook Expo at the Shilo Inn. Tons of fun stuff and some great classes. I took two album classes. I will post photos when I am done with them. Here are a couple of layouts that I did...

Dear family~
Just a little note to catch everyone up on what has been happening at The Mitchell house. We are all very excited to have some nice weather. Yes, there seems to be snow every third day, but the days in between when it is sunny are soooo nice! We planted our garden a few weeks ago. My peas are up about 4 inches, I have three tomatoes, one stalk of corn and my carrots are sprouting. My lettuce plants and apple trees are also doing well. Even with the occasional snow fall, my plants have survived (thanks to Tracey’s attention and covering the plants at night!). My tulips in the front are all blooming, they are so beautiful. We have already had two nest-fuls of Robyn eggs this year.
We went last weekend up to Big Elk Creek near Palisades Dam to camp for the weekend. It was wonderful! The weather was great! 80 degrees all weekend with a little breeze. It did cool down at night, but the days warmed up quickly. We bought Dalton a motorcycle. Big Elk was a great place for him to practice riding it (It was great for Tiffany to try riding too!). He is such a quick learner and so responsible. He loved riding it. Jaxson found a lizard and brought it home. He named it Sneaky. We had a moose come through our camp, and a dozen deer came down by the water to drink. The scenery was gorgeous. Green trees with snow topped mountains in the background. Beautiful! Here are some pictures of the camping.
Todd, Emily, and the kids came for a visit from Seattle. We love having them here. The kids all love playing together. We went down to Gem Lake for a picnic on Sunday.
Dalton will be out of school the 29th. He is very excited to be out! I went with his class to the zoo for their last field trip. He loved having me and Jaxson go with him. He is getting baptized this weekend. He is a little nervous about going under the water, but he is excited. Dalton plans on riding his motorbike and shooting his BB gun this summer. He loves to go out to Uncle Cory’s and shoot birds.
Jaxson is finished with Preschool. He is really going to miss school. He cannot wait to be in Kindergarten this fall. He gets to ride the bus with his brother. This summer he wants to go to the park and play, play leggos, and play with his friends.
Tiffany is still busy at the hospital. We have busy times and slow times. Summer seems to be the start of the busy time. Still scrapbooking. My QVC appearance has been pushed back to Jan 2009. I am in charge of my wards Girls Camp next month. Things are coming together for that and should be really fun. I have a big scrapbook conference in Arizona in September. Really excited for that.
Tracey and Darren bought a boat together. They have been working on fixing it up so it will be ready for summer. He has been out fishing a few times. Not fishing many tournaments this year. Helping Dalton with his motorbike and BB gun has been fun for Tracey. Tracey and I will be going to Philadelphia in July for classes for QVC. It will be sort of an anniversary vacation. We hope to go down to Washington DC for a day or so.
We have plans to go to the cabin at Massacre Rocks in a few weeks. The boys are so excited to go there. Hopefully, we will get in quite a few camp trips this summer.

Lost in the hustle and bustle of life......

I seriously don't know where the time goes, it has been 6 weeks since my last post.I must have a lot to post right?!?! Well lets see....

Lots of planning for Girls Camp. Finished up on the assignments and now starting on the menus, activities, and goodies. I have such great leaders who help me, i couldn't do it without them!!! Camp is June 16th...

Found some delicious strawberry's at Wal-mart. They were soooo good. Ate the first carton and then just had to make homemade jam with the next two. Had some homemade bread to go with it. Delish!!!!

Dalton had his 8th birthday last week. Took 10 friends to Blast Off. They played golf, ate pizza, and ran a whole lot of energy off. It was really fun! Here are a few pics..

Also a great shout out to my dad, Dennis... It is his birthday on the same day as Daltons! Happy Birthday Dad!!

Went bowling the other day with the boys and Darren and Amber. We (well, I) are not really good at it, but it is fun.

Jaxson was really funny... he would stand like this all through the game and would say "Aim at the middle pin." He was such a great coach!

Got my garden planted this past weekend. Now, lets hope that we don't have more snow to freeze my little plants!!

Been doing a lot of scrapbooking for the ETM store and a little on my own. Always something to be doing!!
Today is my niece's 9th birthday. Happy Birthday, Caylie May!!!!!!
You would think that there would be a whole lot more to post but that is the major stuff.

Let's see, what has been going on with me.....

My brother, SIL, and their three kids are here from Seattle. We have had tons of fun. We took all of the kids to Bear Buddies to get a stuffed animal. Sort of an early Easter gift since they are going home tomorrow. We celebrated Christmas and all of the birthdays in the last 4 months last night at Leo's. We went shopping and to movies. Just a bunch of relaxing and hanging out. Took some family pictures and some photos of their youngest daughter, Hallie, who is a curly, red-headed firecracker. She is 17 months old and such a doll!!

QVC called and pushed my air date back to September. They decided not to have a craft event in July, so September is the next one. That will be a busy month with Creative Escape, starting school, the fair, and now QVC.

I went to my friend, Sherelle's blog and she had the outline for a 12 week online photography class by http://www.twopeasinabucket.com/. I have been wanting to learn more about the setting on the manual mode of my camera, so I decided to download the outline and take the class. I will keep you updated as to my learning. Anyone else tired of the snow yet? I am. I am ready for some warm weather and sunshine!

A bunch of gals and guys at my work have started our version of The Biggest Loser". It will go for three months, ending at the end of May.(Just in time for swim suit season!!) There are about 20 people in it. I have lost, so far, 9 lbs. I have been walking every day, lifting weights 2 days per week, and then doing some cardio exercise 2 days a week. I have been cutting back on my portions sizes, but mainly not eating "frivolous" calories. You know, the snacks and treats that always seem to be lying around at work. Wish me luck. (Amanda, you are my hero!!)

Great News!!

Lots of fun stuff happening at my house. I just received a letter from QVC giving me the news that my sketches book has passed inspection!!! YEA!!!! I had to make some changes to the book and figure how to package it so that it can withstand hurricane force winds (Seriously, you should see the requirements contract!!) Anyways, I did it!! So now to printing and a trip to Philadelphia in April for classes and a run through on my segment. Getting so excited!!!

We are going to have a QVC Sendoff Party at the ETM Store. Discounts for anyone who has a Q, V, or C in their name or something. Free stuff and food!! I am not sure of the date or details, but stay tuned.

My segment will air in July. So much to do in the next few months.

Another fun thing is this blog I found. It is http://www.worthmentioninginidahofalls.blogspot.com/. Krista has put together a website of all the fun events in our area. I didn't realize how much was going in right under my nose. She also has her "favorite finds". Cute items she has come across. She also has give-aways@ I won 3 SETS of tags from Tattered Tags. Can you believe that it is February already! Wow, this year is already flying by. Tracey and the boys have been making the most of the snow and cold weather. They went ice fishing up to Ririe last weekend. They had a lot of fun.

They also have been doing a lot of sledding and playing "king of the hill". I love to watch them play!!

Here is my fashion advice for the day......

Yes, that is a tie worn with a hoodie. I bought the boys ties and new dress clothes. They were so excited to wear them that they wore them to dinner at The Great Wall restaurant. Dalton was decked out head to toe.....shirt, tie, pants, socks, shoes. He was so handsome!!! Jaxson decided that he only wanted to wear his new shoes and his tie, and that is exactly what he did. He had his dress shoes on with slick sweat pant, his blue hoodie and his tie. He was so adorable. He kept rubbing his tie and saying, "Doesn't my tie look nice?!"

I am a total slacker, but i just wanted to wish my handsome hubby HAPPY BIRTHDAY on the 26th of January!!

Yes, I married a younger man......only by 2 weeks. The boys and i tried to give him a little thing every day of the week of his birthday. He is such a wonderful father, husband, and soul mate. He is always there for me and the boys. He has such a great sense of humor and is such a good listener. I love you honey!!

Recap of my week.....

Lots of stuff happening at out house. Here is a recap...

Had my 35th birthday on the 12th. My husband and boys bought me a dozen pink flowers. I had to work that day, but when i came home, Dalton was waiting on the back porch as I pulled in. He was so excited to show me the roses. He snuck down into my scrapbook room and found some ribbon to tie around the vase. They were all so cute about it!!
Had my dental implant procedure done last Monday. I am such a weenie when it comes to going to the dentist, but i survived and my tooth is healing well. It has to heal for 4-6 weeks before the crown is placed on it.
Rescheduled my QVC appearance for JULY! Really excited to get back to my book and get it rolling.
I was just made CAMP DIRECTOR for my ward. I am really excited!! If anyone has great websites or references they would love to share, please feel free!
Tracey took the boys ice fishing today. I was on call today so I stayed home. I didn't end up having to work so I was able to sleep in. YEA! Tracey took the boys and asked me for the camera so he could take photos!! What a good guy!
Planning on an ETM crop this saturday. It is a 12 hour crop. Really excited to have that time to be creative.
Taught my chipboard family album class at the ETM store last Thursday. The gals were so fun and it was a great class.

Another Sunday evening. There is something about Sunday that makes me want to just snuggle by the fire and nap. Do you feel that way? It is even worse when it is so darn cold outside.

Anyways, was able to get the rest of the Christmas down and things back to normal. Did some returns today also. No lines or hassles, it was great!!

Taught my primary class today. I had my new class. They are 5 years old, and there are 9 of them. They are so cute. They are all so chatty about life and things.

Worked and extra day this weekend for a friend who was sick. She really appreciated it and the extra money will be nice! Well, money that will go to my implants...........tooth implant that is. Yes, I have to have major (okay it is just minor, but i am a weenie, so i think it is major) mouth surgery next Monday. Not looking forward to that at all!

Took some time off....now I am back in the saddle!

Season Greetings and Hppy Holidays from the Mitchell household! We hope that everyone had a great holiday, stayed safe and healthy, and made some wonderful memories!

Sorry that i have not blogged for such a long time. I needed to take some time off. Time to spend with my kids, relax, chill out, and do nothing. It was quite nice. Here is what we have been up to.

Tracey and I were able to go to Jaxsons school and spend the day with him at his Christmas party. We make ornaments, decoracted cookies, and sang songs. Santa even came for a visit. Jaxson was so excited to have us both there. It was very fun. Take a look....

The boys are at the PERFECT age to enjoy the holidays. They loved every detail of Christmas this year. They loved decorating the tree and setting out all of the holiday decorations.

The boys even got creative and made their own tags for the gifts! So cute!

We had our family christmas party at our house. This is the third year we have had it. I really enjoy getting together with my aunts, uncles, and cousins (about 40 or so) and spending time together. Santa ususally stops in and drops off a treat for all the kids. He didnt disappoint this year.

When the boys got up on Christmas Eve morning, Santa had left them a game tree. It was a little tree loaded with little games that they could play. There was puzzles,dice, rubix cubes, dominos, and hand held games. Santa also left them some pajamas and a letter. They were so excited about the tree. They played all day with them.

We spend the Christmas Eve with Tracey's family. They came over for pizza and we opend presents. It was nice. Really laid back and fun.
I though Dalton was going to spontaneously combust before Christmas got here. We was up twice in the night becuase he couldnt sleep. Finally he dozed off and didnt wake til 0800. Leggos were the big hit of the holiday. My kids love them!!

With all of the swow that has fallen, we have done a lot of sledding. The boys squeal with excitement as Tracey takes them over jumps in the backyard.

We spend this weekend, cleaning up after the holidays. Got most of the decorations put aways, except for the tree, and some dusting done. I get the urge to clean after the holidays, you know, organizing things so that all the new stuff will have a place.

Took a break from scrapbooking for a few weeks. It was nice to have all my assignments done and not have deadlines to meet. I also put my book on the back burner for a while. It is still going to be on QVC, but i have pushed that back to this summer. There are so many little details to take care of to get onto the show, classes to take, and meetings to go to in Pennsylvania, that I just couldn't fit everything in before february, which was my origional air date. It has been nice not to have the stress of all those decisions to deal with over the holidays. I will be back in full swing after the first of the year to get the book deal done.

I also found out that i have asthma. I have been fighting a cough for the last 4 months and i think this has been the problem. Had a few rough days getting my breathing under control, but i think that thinks are calming down now. The cold and wind doesnt help, but I am leaning to deal with it. Hopefully it will clear up and not give me much hassle (cross my fingers).

Whew...there is our holiday recap. Ready for the new year. Teaching some classes at the ETM store, and putting a few kits together. i will post some pictures when i get them done.

Where do I begin...

Where do I begin?! I have not blogged in 10 days and I pretty much don't have much to say. Here's why..Another trip to the ER last Monday night with the same old stuff...sore throat, aches, headache. All tests came back normal. Sent to a specialist everyday of the week for workup. Finally sent back to the ER for IV antibiotics. Seems that I have a severe strain of Strep. Since I have had my IV antibiotics, I am feeling better. Most of the aches are gone, but the crater sized kancer (sp?) in my throat is still giving me fits. Just glad they figured everything out. Pretty much been in bed or on the couch. Cannot wait to feel better. This crap has been going on for about 2 months.

Hope to be well by Thanksgiving. Going to give thanks to the little things in life, you know, swallowing without feeling like you are grinding sandpaper down your throat, you know, those little things.

Okay, on to one bright spot happening. We had Jaxson's 5th birthday party last Saturday. I cannot believe how much joy he brings into our life. Here are a few fun facts about Jax and a look for a little slide show of his birthday.

*Favorite color is blue.

*Loves his brother!

*Eats his cereal dry with no milk.

*Has a great memory, can sing/recite/remember anything to do with Pokemon, Tansformers, or Star Wars.

*Very tender-hearted.

*Loves to sneak in bed with mom and dad.

*Loves to dance.

*Loves snakes,sharks, and other reptiles.

*LOVES to go to school.

*Hates going through the car wash.

*Loves to wear snowboots all year long.

Wow, I cannot believe that it is November already!! Where did the year go?! Busy this week, getting ready for Jaxson's 5th birthday on Saturday. Boy, talk about time flying by!! We are having a Transformer party at Blast Off. Cake is ordered and treat bags are put together. Just a few gifts to get.....

I was "tagged" by Kim and so here are 6 random things about me:

1. I am left handed. Most people don't notice this unless I am writing right in front of them.

2. I was born in Virginia. That is were my parents were stationed in the Navy when I decided to make my appearance. We moved to Idaho when I was a year old. I would love to go back there some day and see where my parents lived.

3. I don't like fresh farm eggs. No going out an roosting up a chicken to get my morning egg. No Way! I want my eggs to come from the store. I am sure they have to go through some sort of xray machine to make sure there is no baby chick in there. Weird, I know!

4. I am claustrophobic. I locked myself in a bathroom when i was 3 years old. I haven't quite recovered. Well, I do okay, elevators and tight spaced still freak me out a little.

5. Did I day 6 random things?!?! Okay, lets think.....I love to organize. I am not saying that i am organized, but i love to put things in matching containers and make things look cute.

6. I was on my mothers checking account when i was 12 years old. My parents were divorced and my mom worked, so she put my on the account so that i could write checks if my brothers or I needed anythings. Crazy! I didn't even have ID to prove it was me and that i could write a check.

Busy Weekend

Hello~
Wanted to take a minute to catch up on my blog. Had a great weekend. Lots to talk about.

Friday night went to the Scrapping with Heart Charity crop. Glad to be able to help a good cause. It was fun to see some old friends and the food was DELICIOUS!! Lots of great goodies given away! Make a few book sales, plan to donate half of the money to the Cardiomyopathy Foundation. I plan on donating every year!!

Went to SLC this weekend. Took Mom and the little boys. We went down to see my great aunt who has fallen ill. She was SO frail! I am so grateful that we went to see her. I have a feeling it will be the last time that we do.

Also went to visit a friend of mine who was in the hospital in SLC. It was great to see him and his family. They are such a great family. Such strong faith and determination. They are a true inspiration to me.

We decided to spend the night. My kids LOVE to stay in hotels. They love the elevators, the two beds close together to jump on, the mini fridge. Everything. We went swimming at the pool on Saturday. My kids love the water. Late night movie and snacks in bed ended the night. The hotel had a wonderful breakfast, we loaded up and went back to our room so that the boys could give grandma "breakfast in bed".

Had lunch at Olive Garden. I know, we have one here, but the one in SLC always tasted better and there is never the wait. Anyways. it was out of this world!! YUMMY!!

Came home Sunday. It was a beautiful drive. All of the fall colors were breathtaking. It was good to be home. Tracey stayed home and cleaned the house. What a great man!! I loved coming home to a nice clean house! Thanks babe!!

Finished up a journal for a class at ETM. Sorry for no pictures, but soon! It turned out so cute! Also doing a Christmas card class in a few weeks. Pics to comes for that one too.

Helped Dalton with a poster about himself for school. He is STUDENT OF THE WEEK! He is so excited about that. He was chosen because "he is always ready in class". He is a very good student, he is a smart kid, We are very proud of his work in school. Way to go, Dalton!!

Still here....

Yes, I am still here. Feeling better and now trying to get caught up on laundry, scrapbooking, and life.

I am going to go to the Scrappin with Heart crop tomorrow. REALLY excited to have some scheduled scrapbooking time. Love that the proceeds go to a good cause. I am still taking names for the drawing for the goodie bag if you are going to the crop. See the post a few days back. Can't wait to see all of you there!

Probably going to SLC this weekend. Have to visit my great aunt who has fallen ill. I have a few friends that are in the hospital down there also. Going to take them a little gift. Hope to be able to fit in a visit with the gal who is going to print my book for QVC. Got to get that going so I can be ready to go by January.

Having a neighborhood Halloween party next week. Decorating gingerbread haunted houses, decorating pumpkins, and having dinner. Should be fun.

Not much else exciting to post, much more later. I have a CUTE Journal and Journal Jar class that I am doing at ETM. Almost done and will post pics. Also a Christmas card class coming up in November. More details soon.

Pewny greetings from the Mitchell house. Still have coughs hanging on, but the doctors say that it is now bronchitis. New meds have helped, but them my crown fell of sunday. Sooooo off to the dentist today, tooth not able to be saved, to the oral surgeon tomorrow to get tooth implant. One good thing.....good meds, no pain!!

Anyways, have the ETM all day crop on Saturday. I WILL be better for that. It is a welcomed creative time. I have been so tired that i have not been very creative, then last night after my meds kicked in, my mind started racing...layout ideas, class ideas, the next edition of my book......It was so nice to get the juices flowing that i had to get up in the middle of the night and jot them down. So glad I did, cause after the dentist today I was a little fuzzy!

Okay, on to more fun things.....See my post a few back( October 1st) about the Scrapping with Heart Charity crop. This is truly a great cause. Since that last post I have had a dear friend be sent to SLC for a heart transplant. I am even more committed to get participation for Jenni's foundation. It feels great to be able to do something.

Something old, Something new......

You know the old saying when you get married:

"Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue."

Well, I am putting my own twist on it. I am using this saying to insire my creativity when making my layouts. I try to incporporate these 4 "somethings" into my page...

Something old: This is a way for me to use my old stash. You know, the stuff you bought months ago and never got around to using it.

Something new: (My favorite area!!) This lets me use the new stuff that I just cannot wait to use. It also inspires me to try a new technique.

Something borrowed: This allows me to scraplift ideas and not feel guilty about it!! I can steal just a part of a layout or the whole thing!

Something blue: This makes me think about color. This is the hardest one for me, because I am such a "matchy-matchy" person. I try to use colors that I may not ususally put together.

Here are my first two layouts:
Something old: I used the cloth "togetherness" sticker. It matched the tones of my page to the tee. What a great find!

Something new: These new plastic flowers by American Crafts. I dont get to use lots of flowers with my boys so this was so fun!

Something borrowed:Took advice from Ali Edwards and used my own handwriting on the page.

Something blue: Okay, the orange flowers dont match the paper "exactly", but I used them anyway and I love the different shades together!

Next layout:

Something old: I used the skinny brown Chatterbox stickers for my title. I forgot how much I love them!! I also went through my rub-on stash and found some rubons that matched my page. Yeah~ Love using up that old stuff! I also placed rubons on my photos~something that I used to do, but somehow got out of the habit.

Something new: I bought this new green ribbon from May Arts. I love ribbon! I also used my new journal box stamp from 7 Gypsies. It makes a great addition to the page.

Something borrowed: I copies Amanda's technique of covering chipboard and cutting it out with my exactoknife. I love the way that it turned out! Thanks Amanda!

Something blue: I dont do a lot of monochromatic layouts, so it was a little stretch for me to use the light green cardstock background with the darker green chipboard. It turned out well, and I really like the contrast. I also added blue rubons to some of the photos. The blue is a total contrast and it draws attention to the color of my boys clothes.

Love that Idaho Weather!!

How is everyone loving all that snow? I used to love the snow when I was little because I knew that when the snow starts falling, then it is getting close to my birthday. (My bday is in January) Well, now that i am grown and can read a calender, I don't need the snow to tell me when my birthday is. I am not a big skier (My version of skiing is more like sledding because i am always on my butt going down the hill!!) and i am not really find of the cold, but my kids love the snow. We already had two snowball fights, made snow angels, and made a snowman.

One of the best things about playing in the snow is coming inside and getting warm with a cozy fire and a cup of hot chocolate. YUMMY!!!

Snowy cold days are also great for scrapbooking inside. I am working on the pictures from Leas who won the contest to have her photos scrapbooked with the October Moments kit. Her layouts will be on display at the ETM store so be sure to check them out. Her pictures were of her family dressed up in costumes last Halloween. It was so cool because it was a family event. Even Lesa and her husband dressed up. She was Corella Deville (sp?), her hubby was one of the 102 Dalmatians, and her three kids were little Dalmatians too. So cute. I will post the layouts later today when I have them done.

Hello~

Short post today. Tracey and I have been under the weather for the last few weeks. Sinus crud that is going around. I am on my SECOND round of antibiotics and finally feeling like coming into the world of the living. The boys have not got the bug~thank goodness! Not a whole lot of energy to do anything, so I did a lot of drawer organization, sock mating, and paperwork. Stuff that I could do at a really slow pace, in my jammies, sitting on the floor. So glad to be on the mend!

Anyways~ a couple of things... only 2 spaces left in my Halloween Mini Book Class (See previous post). Be sure to sign up today! Call 552-4847 for sign up and payment.

Next~ I am one of the designers for the Express the Moment Kit Club. There is a card kit and a layout/album/project kit. They are put together by Kim every month and when you are a member of the club, you get instructions and project ideas. (See the ETM store for details 552-4847) This months kit is Halloween themed. All of the projects that I make are placed on display at the store. I love going in and seeing my little family or friends displayed! Okay, I have been a totally pathetic blogger. I have not posted for nearly a month. Slacker! I am so going to try to do better. Here is a long post to get caught up on the last month......

LAVA

Went to Lava Hot Springs for our family reunion. We go every year. It is fun to swim in the pools and soak in the hot tubs. We also float down the canal on rafts. That is a blast!

The weather was perfect. Just warm enough. We always have such yummy food. Everything is homemade and most is cooked in dutch ovens. Delicious!! Here are a few pictures.

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL

Dalton started school on August 22. He is in 2nd grade. We have a tradition of taking our family photo in the front yard every year. Here is our photo this year......

Dalton held my hand ( or maybe I held his?!?!) all of the way to the bus stop.

I always have such a sad little spot in my heart when he leaves. He is getting so independent and grown up!

Jaxson missed him so much on that first day that he wanted to make a "welcome home" sign for his brother. Here he is waiting in the driveway for Dalton to come home.

I am so blessed that my boys are so close. They are such good friends. They usually get into trouble for getting along to well (teasing each other, making each other laugh, being goofy) and being loud or causing mischief. I love to see them play together.

Jaxson started preschool. He still loves to go! Haven't had a chance to get any pictures of him there. Will try to this week.

STATE FAIR

We went to the fair Friday night. The boys loved it! Tracey and I go to eat! We always have to have a foot-long corn dog, a greasy burger, scone nuggets and a tiger ear. (For starters!) The boys were so excited about the reptile exhibit. (Did you know that our boys love reptiles? :)

Any ways, they had this huge tent filled with snakes, turtles, and other reptiles. The boys were in heaven!! They had an area where you could have your picture taken with a real snake or a crocodile. Being the mean mom that I am, I said NO! So we didn't have the pictures taken.

Okay, you all know that I am such a pushover. We had our photo taken with BOTH animals.

After that, we went to the rides and Dalton went crazy. I think he went through the fun house at least 10 times. Dalton loved to try all of the rides. Jaxson is more like me, he is not a big ride fan, but there were a few that he rode on.

We went to the quilting booth. Mom entered a beautiful quilt and she won a blue ribbon and a "Best of Class" blue ribbon for her pillow that he made. We had to go see them displayed. Way to go mom!!

Didn't have time to see the livestock this year. Maybe next year!

DALTON'S BB GUN
Dalton has been going with Tracey hunting for ducks and doves. Dalton has started showing interest in learning to hunt. Trace and I got him a Red Rider BB gun. Tracey and I are so totally strict with him learning safety and understanding the importance of gun handling. Dalton has done really well. He is super careful. Right now he is practicing on pop cans and paper targets.

That kid is a pretty good shot. He cant wait to go hunting with his dad.

DESIGNING WITH SKETCHES BOOK

Sales of my book are going well. I had to send additional orders to 2 LSS! YEAH! I have been slowly selling books on my own as well. Contact me if you would like to purchase one.

Plans for QVC are still going well. They are going over the book to make sure that everything is in order. Once they approve the book, they will issue a purchase order. Air date is January 2008.

I keep getting asked if I am going to do another book. It's a thought. What would YOU like in a book? Do you like sketches? Do you want a theme based book? Send me some ideas!!

ETM STORE CLASSES

I am teaching an adorable Halloween Mini Book from Making Memories. It is filled with tabs, ribbon, stickers, pockets, and is a great way to showcase the pictures of your little spooks.

Getting ready for school!

Sounds like I am doing inventory for my scrapbook room! :) Sitting down tonight to get all of the school supplies for the kids labeled and packed in the backpacks. The kids are so excited about all of their new stuff! I am excited for them to meet new friends and learn new things, but I always feel a little nervous and sad inside because they are gone for such a long amount of time. I worry about all of the negative influences that they will encounter and hope that we have taught them to be safe and strong.

Taught my first class at the ETM stores. It was a beginning class. It went great. It was all back-to-school themed. I found the cutest little candy-filled lunch pails at Target for each of the ladies. They were just adorable. It is so fun to help gals get started into scrapbooking or get re-energized about it.

I have another class coming up the second Saturday in September. 3 layouts in 2 hours. Themes are SUMMER, FAMILY, and BACK TO SCHOOL. What a great way to tie up summer and get a jump start on fall with all of these layouts done!! Sign up today at the ETM store. Space is limited.

Yellowstone and Wall Decals

Hello~ I cannot believe that it is August already! Where does the time go? Here is where we spent our time the last few weeks...

It was Tracey and I's 13th Wedding Anniversary on the 23rd of July. (Love you Babe!) Talk about time flying by! He is such a great husband and father!! For our anniversary, we went up to a friends cabin in Yellowstone for the weekend. (Yes, we did take our boys with us). It was so nice to get away. The weather was beautiful and we saw tons of fun stuff.

Here is the cabin that we stayed at. It has a DOUBLE DECK! It was so cool. There is a wooden swing on the porch. Loved it!

We stopped along the way and waded in the Yellowstone Lake, It was so warm.

We then stopped by a walkway along the river. The water was just gorgeous!!

We went through Yellowstone and saw so many beautiful animals. Take a look!

We stopped at Old Faithful and saw the geyser go off. That was so amazing! Here is what the boys were doing while the geyser is spraying 150 feet in the air.......

Stopped at a few of the hot pots along the way.

The next day we went fishing. The river as from 3 inches to 2 feet deep. We walked up the channel fishing as we go. It was so much fun. My boys LOVE to be outside and in the water. We spent a good part of the day there. The boys each caught a lot of small fish.

Here is my favorite photo of Jax~ I was sitting on the bank taking scenery photos and here comes Jax across the river with a purple flower in his hand. "I brought this for you, Mom. It is your favorite color".

After the fishing we took the motorcycle and the 4 wheeler back into the woods about 10 miles. Did i mention how gorgeous it was up there?! We ended up tired, dusty, and hungry, so we got milkshakes and french fries for the ride home. What a great time we had!!

MY BIG NEWS!!!!

I just wanted to let everyone in on a little secret........

I have just received news in the last 3 days,

that my book, Designing with Sketches, will premier on

QVC!

Can you believe it?!?! I am so excited. I have very few details at this point, except that they offered for me to come on the show and showcase my book. On top of that, they want 1800 copies!

I have to thank all of my designers and my production team for all of their help. Without them, there would be no book. Thanks a million guys!

I will keep you informed when i have more details.

Summer Fun at the Mitchell House.....

Wow, summer is off to a running start. Lots of heat and lots of fun activities going on. Here is a short rundown of what we have been up to the last few weeks~

Spent one afternoon at the river feeding the ducks. The boys had a great time. They were sitting there on the bank and Dalton says, "Mom, isn't it beautiful here. The water is so pretty." Then Jax chimes in, "It means God loves us!" (Grandma Marti tells him that) I thought, yes, it is a beautiful place. Children are so insightful!

We took the boys up to Mud Lake for the weekend. It is such a great place to camp for us because it is close, it has bathrooms, and the water is great for the boat and the jetski. The boys LOVE to play in the water at the dock. Jax had a blast in the water because this was the first time he was able to swim since he broke his arm last summer. Darren and my mom went with us. Saw a few deer and played for hours on the water. Very fun! Here is some of the fun the boys had with Darren and splashing with Mom.

Back at home, getting ready for be and Dalton says, "Mom, Dad, come up to my room. See if you can find Jax. He is hiding." Tracey and I looked around in all of the obvious hiding spots and no Jax. Then, all of a sudden, Jax pops out of his hiding spot. Here is sort of a play-by-play shot.

Yes, that little turkey tucked himself into that tine little cupboard. He thought he was pretty funny.

Okay, book news. It is going pretty well. I have sold about 180 books. I am working on getting a pay pal account to sell them on this blog, but i am still working out the details. I do have some at my home, so call me if you would like to buy it directly from me. (521-1287)

I have been working on getting it in stores. It is at both Scrappin Essentials, and Scrap N Fanatics in Pocatello, and at Porters in Rexburg. I recently put it in Porters here in Idaho Falls. Here is a photo of the book and the display.

Speaking of the store, I am one of the designers. I am so pumped up to do displays and classes again. Stop by the store if you haven't because Kim has done an AWESOME job reopening it. She moved things around and the place looks huge. She has added so many cute details in the store!! You should see the new, cool product that she is ordering in! It is such a cheery, friendly, inspirational place to be. Check it out! Here is one layout that I did for the store as a display.

The 4th of July was fun. Took the boys to the parade. They got tons of candy and loved all of the floats. Take a look~

The rest of the 4th was spent at The Seelys house running through the sprinkler and jumping on the trampoline. We had a yummy BBQ!

The night ended with tons of fireworks, but not before I caught a picture of this gorgeous sunset!

We just came back from the parade and it was so heartwarming to see all of the patriotic floats. The men and women in uniform just brought tears to your eyes!

My whirlwind week...

Hello! How is everyone? Things are good here. Been a very busy and eventful week. Here is a quick rundown.......

My brother, SIL, and their three kids were here from Seattle. Last sunday, my mom and I took them on a picnic up to Twin Bridges. (Cute little campground area outside of Ririe) We took my Aunt Tammy. She loves to go for rides and wants to do everything that the other kids are doing!! We had a great time! The weather was great, the food was delicious, and the scenery was gorgeous. I was able to snap a few photos of the kids. Take a look~

Yes, Tammy had to have her feet in the water like everyone else. It was freezing cold!! Those kids had a great time splashing and goofing off.

I may have to stop going into the outdoors if my children keep bringing home wild animals. Dalton was lucky enough to find another snake! Exciting huh! He called him Waterdock, because "i found him on the dock by the water". He was instantly attached to him, so we had to bring him home. Needless to say, Waterdock and Sneaky get along great. Here is Dalton with his new friend....I love this photo because my niece is such a "girly girl". She is all bling and princess like. She was totally fascinated with the snake. She even held it for a second. (Literally a second, and then she tossed it back to Dalton).

The rest of the week was spent planning for the ETM expo. Everything went off without a hitch. Well, the expo started at 1 pm and my books did not arrive until 10:45 am., but otherwise all went well. I cannot believe that I went from a box of layouts to a published book! It was so amazing to see it all come together.

The expo was fun. Ladies were lined up way before the expo even opened.

My booth turned out great. Everyone was so supportive and complimentary about the book. I signed autographs and some gals took their picture with me. It was super fun.

I sold about 80 books at the expo. I will be selling them through my blog, so if you didn't have a chance to make it to the expo, call/email me and I can hook you up!

My mom and my hubby sent me flowers. They were so pretty. They are totally the best! They support me 100% in everything that I do. Love you guys!

I was SO tired from the expo that I just chilled out this weekend. On sunday, took the kids to the park. I had been so busy getting things ready for the conference that i felt like i had neglected my boys, so we went to the park and burned off some energy. I tell you what, they have much to burn. I love to see them smile and laugh and enjoy life. They don't get caught up in all the hustle and bustle and stress like adults do. It was very refreshing to be with them and enjoy some laughs.

Looks like fun huh! I wish I had half of that energy!!

Off to work for the next few days, then taking a road trip to deliver my books to some LSS.

Lots of FIRSTS for us

This week at our house was filled with lots of FIRSTS........

Dalton taught Jaxson how to ride his bike with no training wheels for the FIRST time! This was so exciting! I don't know what was cuter- Jaxson on that pink little bike weaving down the driveway, or how Dalton was so helpful with his brother??!! Here is a little recap of the event. We are very proud of Jaxson for riding his bike (he has been hesitant to ride since he fell off it last summer and broke his arm), he is really cruising now!!

Sneaky (the snake) ate his FIRST mouse. Whew...I had run out of ideas on what or how to feed him. I am glad that he did it on his own! (I know you are saddened that I didn't include a photo :) )
My neice Caylie was baptised today. She is the FIRST of the grandchildren to be baptized. It was a nice program. Here are a few pics.....

I am closing in on the release of my FIRST publication! It printed on Friday and Saturday, and if all goes well, it will go to Salt Lake Sunday night for tabs and binding. I am so excited! I am now focusing my thoughts on my table for the conference. I will be sellling the books there. I am fixing up my displays and stuff. It should be really cute. I have a FREEBIE for anyone who visits the booth and purchases a book. (I love free stuff!)

Let's talk scrapbooking~

What is more fun than having the cutest scrapbook stuff?? Having them in a totally cute container, of course!!!

I wanted to share with you my newest container!

My newest obsession has been clear acrylic stamps. I just love them, but have not found a good way to store them. I was at The Scrap Coop and I ran across this 12 by 12 paper mache box. I thought it would be perfect for the stamps. Here it is~~

So cute~~ I covered the front with paper and flowers. Here is a look at the inside. The sheer pocket holds the stamps great. The box is big enough to hold the large 12x12 acrylic stamps from Autumn Leaves. For some of the smaller Heidi Swapp stamps and the ones that I use a lot, I added magnets to, and they stay attached to the flip out cover. I just love how it turned out!

Here are a few other cute container ideas~~

I used this "cookie jar" container to put all of my flowers in it. I love that it is clear so that I can see all the pretty colors, and the wide opening makes the flowers easy to get to.

I found these cute plastic jars at Roberts. They were very inexpensive and can be decorated, like this one for my notary stamp,

or left plain, like these ones filled with alphabets. The colors of the letters are decoration enough!!

Whatever the size or location of your scrapbook space, make it a place where you love to be. Having cute containers and good organization makes scrapbooking more productive and more fun!

Let's catch up!!

Happy Memorial Day weekend!! Hope everyone is safe and enjoying the nice weather. Tracey took the boys fishing today. Hope they are having fun (and wearing sunscreen!!)! I went into work this morning for a few hours to help out and then my mom and I went to visit the graves of my grandparents. Now, back at home bloggin!! Here are a few highlights (or lowlights) of my week.
Went to the funeral of a friend that i went to high school with. You never expect to have to do that when you are 34. My friend was in a car accident. So sad. She was so pretty and such a sweet person. She will sure be missed. At the funeral I ran into some other gals that i went to high school with. (Hi Kim and Jessica!!). It was fun to get caught up on each of their lives! Take the time to contact your friends and family..you never know when it is our time to go.
On a lighter note, the reptile collection is doing well. The lizards and the salamanders are cohabitating well together. The snake is great. He lets Dalton hold him. Not a real big eater. He doesnt like the dead, frozen mice that we feed him. Poor little Dalton, he wasnt so sure that he wanted to feed those tiny mice to Sneeky. We also have 4 new babies at our house.......................baby robyns.

It has been so fun to check on the eggs and now see the tiny chicks. I think there are 4 or 5 of them.

Friday night the ETM staff got together and started getting things together for the upcoming expo. I cannot spoil the suprises, but the projects are TO DIE FOR!! The free gifts and goodies are so cute! I am really excited for this. I am teaching a layout based on one of the sketches in my book. Cool huh!!
The book is coming along slowly. I got a proof copy printed out. The colors are beautiful. So vibrant and clear. The layout is wonderful! It is crunch time now becasue i have to have the book sent to SLC to have the spiral binding done and the tabbed dividers added. I am still pressing to have it done by the expo. Keep your fingers crossed!
I have some photos of the boys as well as the photos from our last camping trip but my computer wont upload them. I will keep trying.

Fun family time

Hello~

I was able to go to the fire station field trip with Dalton's class. He was so excited for me to go. I have to tell you, those kids have SO MUCH energy! After touring the fire station and the 911 call center, they still had enough energy to run up and down the hills at Freeman park. I was exhausted just watching them!! They had fun and really learned a lot.

I finished my layout for the ETM Conference. It is sooo awesome. Kim has so many cute things planned. I cannot wait til it's here.

I got a sneak peek at my book on Thursday. Can I tell you that is is so much cooler than I had imagined it would. The graphic designer, Lacey, is so creative and she has done a wonderful job with the layout. I hope to have a proof copy by the end of the week, then a week to print, a week for binding, and they should be ready for the ETM Expo in June. Really, really excited about this!!!

Went camping to Massacre Rock, near American Falls, this weekend. Gorgeous weather. It was quite a sentimental trip. We stayed at the campsite where my grandparents always stayed. We were camping there on Mother's Day, which is the day that my grandmother died. Lots of sweet memories, and a few tears. For those of you who have not been to Massacre Rocks, there are blue-belly lizards there. It has always been a pastime to try and catch them. We found one little lizard near the parking lot. Grandma Marti, Jaxson and myself had this little guy contained around 2 garbage cans. The little lizard ran under the garbage can, so i lifted it up and lo and behold there was a mouse nest under it. Out came the mama mouse with two babies, looking up at us like, "What have you done to my house?!". We returned the can and hopefully the mice will stay there. By this time, Dalton and Tracey showed up. We all were in on the lizard action and the lizard ran under one of the cement curbs in the parking lot. Before i knew it, there I was, lying on the ground, straddling the cement curb, hollering for lizard reinforcements. Tracey was able to shoo the lizard out with a stick and Dalton snatched up the lizard. Us 5 big, grown people really showed that tiny lizard, didn't we!!

That wasn't the end of our animal adventures. We caught another lizard, (no curb straddling for that one) and also a snake. Dalton has wanted a snake for about 2 years. We caught this one and brought it home to live at the Mitchell Reptile Center. It is a a Blue Racer snake. (Nonpoisonous and trainable) . That brings our animal total to 6 fish
1 snake
3 Salamanders
2 Lizards
2 cats
It was a very fun weekend. Very relaxing with lots of good food and tons of laughs.

Back to work for a few days and hope to fit some scrapbooking in sometime.

My Weekly Update........

Good Sunny Sunday Morning~~

I keep waiting for life to slow down a little so that i can blog more, but that never seems to happen. I just have to train myself to just DO IT!! Anyways, here is a wrap up of my week~

Went to the ETM crop last Saturday. I just love those! It is so fun to get away and scrapbook with friends. The projects were sooooo cute!! I was able to teach a class based on one of the sketches in my book. It was fun to "plug" my book a little. Speaking of my book, things are coming along. Long story short, I have an independent graphic designer putting my book together. She is sooo excited about the book, she is a scrapbooker, and she has some great ideas. I talked to her last night and she has the first 25 pages done!! I cannot wait to see how it is turning out. So far, we are still on track for release at the ETM Expo in June. (www.expressthemoment.com) Keep your fingers crossed!

Worked Monday, taught first aid to the scouts Tuesday, worked Wednesday, ran errands and cleaned house Thursday, worked Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Whew! I have tomorrow and Tuesday off~(Well, I have work meetings both days and get to go on a field trip to the fire station with my son's first grade class). See what I mean~ it never slows down.

Yesterday was my nieces birthday.
Happy Birthday Caylie!
She turned 8 years old. She lives in Seattle, but is coming to visit in a few weeks. Cannot wait to see them.

I have to say that even as busy as life is, my kids will do something that makes time stop. For just that second, life is perfect. Example~

Last night Jaxson got sick and threw up. After a bath, I rocked him on the couch. He says to me "Have Dalton come to me.". I have Dalton come over to him and give him a hug. Here is their conversation...

Jaxson: "Dalton, I am sick. Do I have a fever?"

Dalton: "Let me feel." . (Placing his hand on Jaxson's head) "Yup. You feel hot, you have a fever."

Jaxson: "Oh. I feel a little hot and a little cold. What should i do?"

Dalton: " I will lie by you and take care of you."

About every 5 minuted, Jaxson would groan and Dalton would snug a little closer to his brother. They were so cute! I just love it when they are best friends.

Then, this morning when i got out of the shower, Dalton had got up and fixed Jaxson breakfast. What great boys I have!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DALTON!!!!!

Just wanted to send out a HUGE Happy Birthday wish to DALTON!! He is 7 years old!
I cannot believe how big he is getting. We all survived the party. The kids played a few games outside, we had pizza, and then opened presents in record time!
Dalton is having a sleep over tonight with his friend, Jacob. Should be fun!!

It is hard for me when my kids have a birthday and they get sooo many gifts. I feel really "worldly". My kids are a little on the spoiled side, but they have good manners. (Most of the time) I try to get them to slow down and enjoy each gift before going on to the next. I was so happy this morning when we gave Dalton his big gift (the transformer he has ALWAYS wanted), and when my 4 year old, Jaxson, saw the present he ran over to me, threw his arms around my neck and said "Mom, thank you for getting my brother such a great present.". It is those small moments in life that make smile on the inside.

We picked up Dalton from school for lunch. He was so excited! Next, the sleepover.

I am cleaning out my scrapbook room from my hibernation while i was doing my book. I tool a bunch of stuff to the Scrap Coop for their garage sale. It was nice to get rid of a bunch of stuff. Amanda is coming over tonight. Both of our husbands are oot going to a fishing tournament. We are going to do a little scrapbooking and watch a movie. GIRLS NIGHT OUT!

Tomorrow is the ETM crop. So excited! Gotta get packed to go.

Going to go sit outside with Jax for a while.

A few of us blogger-gals have been tagging each other so that we can learn more about each other. Here are my secret tidbits~~

I am left handed. People that i have know for years never have noticed until i am writing something down right in front of them.
I was born in Virginia. It just so happened that is where my parents were stationed in the military at the time. Moved to Idaho at age 1 and been here ever since.
I don't like fresh eggs. You know, you have the chickens in the coops and you pick them fresh in the morning. YUCK!! I am not a real "egg" person anyways, but none of those fresh ones for me....what if you crack it open and there is a baby chick inside?!?! I am sure that the eggs are x-rayed before getting on to the shelves.
I love to have my feet rubbed. That is the most relaxing thing!!
I love diet vanilla pepsi. Many of you have seen me carry around my Bubba Keg.
I am a scrap-aholic. I know that may be a surprised to many of you!!

Love that Sunshine!!

Boy, do I love that sunshine!! We did some yard work this weekend and it felt so good to be outside in the fresh air! My kids are sooo loving it! I hope it continues for the weekend.

I have been busy getting ready for Dalton's birthday on friday. We are having a party at our house on thursday night. It will be all Star Wars themed. He is so excited he can hardly stand it! This will be the first birthday party we have had at out house. Wish us luck, and hope that all 4 walls are still standing after 10 seven year olds have a party!

Tracey went fishing this past weekend. He has two tournaments this upcoming weekend. I hope the weather is good and he has a good time. I hope to go see him on Sunday.

I have the ETM crop on Saturday! I am really jazzed about that. I have my class together. I am teaching a really cute layout. Let me tell you, the projects for this crop are AWESOME! You will not be disappointed. Hope to go to Olive Garden for lunch!

Taught first aid to the boy scouts last night. It was a blast. Those kids were so much fun. I have to review things with them next week as well.

No word on my book yet. Getting anxious. The gal at the printer said that things were going well. Stay tuned.......Look over my blog because i will have questions about my book at the ETM crop. I am giving away some cool prizes!!!!!

Mid-week Wednesday

Okay ladies...I took my book to the printer yesterday!!!! YIPPEE!!! They have to put it all together and print me a proof copy. That should be done in the next week or so. The final product is planned for release in June!! This has been a real fun (difficult, trying, learning, exciting....)experience for me. I hope it turns out on paper as well as i have it in my mind!! Cannot wait for the proof copy!!

It has been a nice break to not have to worry about my book. My poor neglected family was glad to have movie night last night. They have been so understanding about the whole idea.

Tried to get caught up on housework a little. Major cleaning to be done this weekend. In the meantime, just hangin out!!

My heart goes out to the families of the students at Virginia Tech. It seems like you used to be able to send your kids to school and church and you knew they were safe. Not anymore! I have to be to work before my son goes to the bus stop, but on my days off I still get teary when i see him heading out the door and down the street to catch the bus. It is such a big, scary world for such a sweet innocent little boy. (I know i better get over it......Dalton is only in the first grade!) You hope that someone greater than our self is watching over our little ones.

Where did the week go?

Well, another week has come and gone. Where does the time go?

I worked a lot this week at the hospital. I am a cardiac nurse. I work in Cardiac Rehab. I work with all cardiac patients, but mainly ones that have had open heart surgery or a heart attack. We do education with them and their families and we also walk them in the halls. We also have exercise classes for patients so that they can be monitored while they work out. It is such a rewarding job!! We have "dress-up" Friday's. Last Friday we were gypsies. It was so fun! We had a nurse come and read the patients fortunes. She was so great! She was dressed up in her belly dance garb and totally played the part of a fortune teller. It really helps the patients to have a little humor in their classes. The next Friday theme is Safari. Brainstorming on my costume. Any ideas??!!

I was excited to see that my 4 year old son is riding his bike again. He broke his arm on the first day of summer last year by falling off of his bike. He has not wanted to ride his bike since then. He finally got on his bike this week, and had not stopped. I am glad that he was able to get over that fear.

My book is coming along. Taking the final 2 dozen photos. A few glitches to work out this weekend, but i think that things will be on track to have the book to the printer Monday or Tuesday. Here are some sample pages and a sample card from the book. Stay tuned for sneak peaks every week!

Going to the Mad Hatter Crop at the Scrap Coop this Friday night. I am so excited. Bonnie is hosting it. Amanda, Kim, and I are all going. Should be a fun night!! Maybe we will see some of you there!

Oh where, Oh where, have I been?

Hello! I have to start off by saying how sorry that I am about not posting more. I am going to make it a point to make more frequent posts. (More than 1 post in 10 days shouldn't be too hard :) ) Anyways, here is what i have been up to......

Book, Book, and more Book: I have been working feverishly in my sketches book. I am on the home stretch. I have to finish about 1/2 of the photos (50) and then just go over my text with a fine tooth comb. I will have it to the print shop by Thursday of next week. I am hoping to have a proof copy by the end of the month. I am still on schedule to have the book released in June at the Express the Moment Conference at the Shilo Inn. ETM Crop: Getting excited for the Express the Moment crop coming April 28th. I am teaching a class using one of the sketches from my book. I REALLY want the proof copy done by the 28th, so that i can give the cropping gals a sneak peek...and maybe give away a free copy or two.......I love to go to the all day crops! It is so nice to have that time allotted for scrapbooking. I enjoy the "girl talk" and having lunch at Olive Garden. It will be nice to have the stress of my book deadline behind me. We are going to so some swaps at the crop as well. Chipboard and buttons, I think. Amanda and I are starting a circle journal group. We choose a topic and complete a scrapbook page for everyone's book. It is so fun to see all of the different ideas. I think i am going to have my topic be something about photos...best photos, favorite photos..something like that.

Easter: Can yo believe that Easter will be here tomorrow? Took Dalton to Wal-mart and bought him some roller blades. He is so cute trying to learn how to use them. Jaxson bought a car set. That boy LOVES cars. I heard that the Easter Bunny was going to bring them a basketball hoop. Usually, we go camping on Easter weekend. Yes, it is sometimes cold and occasionally we get snowed on. I had to work this weekend, so no camping for us.

Around the House: Been so busy with my book, I felt like my house was a disaster. Took yesterday afternoon off from it, and did some spring cleaning. Dusting, windows, washing rugs, cleaning the stove, laundry. Not a real fun afternoon, but it felt so good to have it done!

Tracey and Boys: I have to say that I am married to the best man ever!! He has been so understanding with me and my book. He is so supportive and encouraging. He is even helpful when my computer wont work and I throw a tantrum. ( I am so not computer inclined!!) He has believed in my book since the moment that I mentioned it. He is such a sweetheart!! I love him with all of my heart! My boys have also been so good. I try not to work much when they get home from school, but when I did, they were so well behaved and kept themselves occupied. I have some great boys!! Love you!!

Mid-week Wednesday

Happy Wednesday! Back to work after my vacation. Hard to get back into the groove. Not really happy with this snow. I was wearing short sleeves and carpi's three days ago, and now there is snow on the ground. What gives??!!

Anyways, not to complain.........I watched Oprah yesterday and she had a challenge for the audience. It was the "NO COMPLAINING" challenge. She challenged us to go 21 days without complaining. I decided to start that today. Got to work at 0730 and by 0825 i was complaining about the snow. Ghheeze. I guess that i will try harder with this. Between Amanda's "think positive" challenge and this one, I may learn how to be more upbeat. Wish me luck!!

Have to work the next three days and then going to scrapbook at the Scrap Coop Friday night. Getting all of the last layouts done and collected for my book. Plan on doing spring cleaning this Saturday.

What a Weekend!!

Hello everyone! Sorry it has been so long since i posted. Tracey and I took our boys to Las Vegas to see the World Finals Monster Trucks. It was a blast!!

We drove (yes, 10 hours in the care with 2 small boys....brave huh!) A box of snacks, the DVD player, and a bunch of sticker books were the only way we made it through!! We drove through Utah and stopped at the Museum of Ancient History. There were a lot of exhibits of dinosaurs. My boys LOVE that! We then continued to sight-see (scrapbook shopping) along the way. On Friday, we went to the pit party for the monster trucks. We were able to ride in the back of a real Monster Truck. So fun! The drivers signed autographs and we were able to take pictures of all the trucks. They had mini electric monster trucks for the kids to ride.

Also found an aquarium at Mandalay Bay. Lots of sharks, you could touch the stingrays. Really cool!

On Saturday, we drove down to Hoover Dam (never been there before) Took tons of gorgeous pictures. Here are a few. Found a few more scrapbook stores. Scrappin Time... great store..tons of new stuff...Pebbles...cute new store....told them all about my book....possible orders.....

Saturday night was the racing and freestyle for the monster trucks. Pretty much every truck that came out on the track was destroyed. It was so cool. One truck rolled over and landed on its nose, and stayed there. Yelled so much, I have no voice today.

Late night then up at 5 am to drive home. Stopped in Pocatello and ate at Mama Inez (truly the best food in the WORLD!!) Now just chillin out getting caught up on emails. Will get back into the groove of my book in the morning.

I realize that i have not posted all of the entries from my contest. Here they are!!!

Book Cover

Okay, ladies.....Here it is! The cover for my book! What do you think?!?! I used paper from a company called Treehouse Memories. I called their number and the guy who answered the phone, Brandon, was the owner. He was totally excited for me to use it on the cover of my book.

There will be spiral binding on the left side and the book will be divided into color-coordinating tabbed sections. There will be a master list of the sketches in the back, and also a place for you do design your own sketches. So cool! I am also putting a company directory in the back of the book. Weekend Wrap-up

Well, another weekend coming to a close. Where does the time go? Anyways, here is a run down of my weekend.......

I worked Saturday. Lots of sick patients at the hospital. I know that sounds dumb because there are always sick people at the hospital, BUT more patients that usual were REALLY sick. Lots of TLC for them.
Went to the dinner and auction Saturday night for the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. My husband is a big hunter. Had a good dinner, lots of raffles. (For those who don't know, I am a HUGE raffle girl!!) It was at the Shilo and it lasted 5 hours. I often found myself daydreaming about Expo and Conference. Where tables should go, ideas for Kim, that sort of stuff. (The ETM conference is going to be held there this year. Fun change!)
Woke up in the night to a sick boy. He has pink eye. Disinfecting everything, warm compresses and eye drops. He is a little fussy. Poor kid!
Got antibiotics for Jax's eyes. Dalton and him played video games for a while on Sunday since we couldn't take him to church.
I was able to get 5 layouts done for my Designing with Sketches book.
I FINALLY finished the cover. I am sooo excited about this. It took me a little while to get the picture in my head to look right on paper. I look at it and it brings tears to my eyes. (I know, I am a crazy girl!)
Trying to upload a picture, having problems. Will keep trying.
Now, going to go fix pizza for dinner. Maybe a little laundry. Maybe not.

Family Time and More......

Hello everyone! Sorry that it has been such a long time since i posted. I seem to spend every waking minute on my sketches book. It has been such a fun process, but i seem to think about it from the moment my eyes open until i go to sleep at night. I was able to get off of work a little early today, and when i arrived home, my husband wanted to go for a drive. We took the boys up past St.Anthony along the river. Tracey fished a little, and the boys had a ball throwing rocks into the water. It was so relaxing to be there. The scenery was so beautiful, and although it was a little chilly, it was very peaceful. We then went to Big Jud's for dinner. (A little hole-in-the-wall diner with the BEST burgers!!) The food was yummy and we listened to 80's music on the jukebox. We ended the night with a Bubble Gum ice cream waffle cone. I really needed a night like this. I came home refreshed and ready to conquer another chapter in my book!!

Speaking of my book.....My "Get Published" contest ends this Saturday. I am really excited about the entrants so far. On little tidbit that i have not mentioned is that LISA BEARNSON is going to do a layout for my book!! Pretty cool huh!! Also, CHRISTY TOMLINSON from MM is trying to see if she can do some layouts as well. Christy is also rounding up some of the most talented gals in the industry to help out with the book! Get your pages done and submitted so that you can be published among great local talent as well as these celebs!! BYT, I have arranged for this book to be for sale at Scrappin Essentials in Pocatello (www.scrappin-essentials.com) and at Porters in Rexburg. I hope many more businesses will follow!! Memories.....

Hello! Hope everyone is having a great weekend!!

For those of you who do not know, I am a Cardiac Nurse at the hospital. One of my patients asked me the other day if I had always wanted to be a nurse. I said, "Only since I was three". I then told him the story of how i know i wanted to be a nurse. Thought that i would share it with you.....

When i was three, I wanted to be a garbage man. There was a garbage man who got to stand on a peg on the outside of the garbage truck and ride around town on it. I thought that would be the coolest thing! I would sit on the back of the couch, looking out the window every Wednesday to see the man ride on his peg. One day, he got off his peg and started sifting through the garbage. I asked my mom what he was doing, and she said, "Well, he is a garbage man, his job is to pick up garbage and put it in the truck" . I thought for a minute and then decided that i didn't want to pick up icky garbage. I then asked my mom what she did. "I am a nurse." Not knowing what they did, and hoping it wasn't picking up garbage, I asked what nurses did. She said that they help sick people. I said, "OK, i think i will be a nurse. " And that was that. Funny how i stuck with that goal!! I must say, I always think about riding on that peg when i see a garbage truck go by!!

Oh, fun memories!!! One of the best things about kids is that they often remind you of your own childhood. Last night, my boys decided to have a "sleep over" in the living room. They proceeded to make "forts" out of chairs, pillows, blankets, end tables, and whatever else they could find. It reminded me of when my brothers and i would make forts in our basement. Some fun things can span generations!!

Happy Tuesday to everyone. Hope everyone is staying inside and staying warm. It is so slick and cold outside! Just makes we want to curl up by the fire with a warm blanket and a book!! How about you?!

Wow! This book publishing stuff is sooo fun! I have so many ideas that I can hardly see straight. Here is the latest.

Checked out some printing places, so many cool ideas!!
Working on getting layouts and cards made for the book.
Finishing up sketch for my "Get Published" contest on my blog.

Daltons 1st Grade program

Dalton had his first grade singing program tonight. Funny how you are so proud of "The Three Pigs" Opera style. After the singing was done, the kids all did a square dance and then another dance. It was so funny to watch. It was almost as fun to watch Jaxson as it was to watch Dalton. Jax sat and clapped the WHOLE program. He just smiled and waved at Dalton. He had so much fun!!

We had to take a family picture (of course!), and here is a picture of Dalton on stage. He is the cute boy in the back row with the blue shirt on.

Boy, time sure flies! Seems like only yesterday Dalton was learning to crawl around. You have to enjoy every stage that your children go through because, before you know it, that stage is gone.

Give your kids an extra big hug tonight. More later! Tiff

My Newest Project!!

I have a big announcement to make! (No, I am not pregnant!)

I have decided to publish a sketches book!! I am very excited about this. I am also a little nervous, a little anxious, and a lot motivated. I have created about 75 sketches and am in the process of making layouts of them. My book will also have sketches for cards and other projects. My goal is to have a prototype together by the end of March and hopefully the final book done by June to have for sale at the Express the Moment Scrapbooking Expo. (www.expressthemoment.com)

I would really love your input. Let me know what you would like to see in a sketches book. I am still in "idea and design" mode. Feed me your ideas!

Keep checking back because I am going to have a couple of contests where YOU can submit a layout or a card and be published in this new book. This is my first project, so compensation would be very limited. I would give you a free copy of the final book for your submission.

I am working on adding some of the sketches to my blog, so check back!
Any suggestions, concerns, or ideas would be greatly appreciated!!

Hello! Have you ever went swimming and decided to jump off the high dive.

The climb up the ladder is filled with excitement, but then as your toes hang over

the edge of the board, you wonder, "What in the world am I doing??!!"

Okay, that is sort of how I feel with starting this blog.

I get very excited about sharing my life, my ideas, and my world with everyone!! I am just leaning the ropes, so please, BEAR WITH ME!!

With this blog, I hope to be able to stay in touch with family and friends, and give them a look into my daily life as a mother, a nurse, a friend, and of course, a scrapbooker!!

I also hope to make new friends along the way.

Let me get you caught up on my week so far.......

I worked this weekend, pretty busy at the hospital. I work with heart patients, do education and help them walk and get back on their feet. Snuck out early on Sunday, went and had my hair cut. YEA!! Been hanging out Monday. Kids are just getting over being sick. My son, Dalton, has his !st grade singing program on Wednesday. I am so excited to go. Must have the camera charged up for that one!!

Took photos of my boys today. Just a bunch of face shots. Some very cute, most very silly. Hope to have them developed tomorrow to post. Hubby went ice fishing the last few days. That does leave me spare time to scrapbook. Yippee!!

Well, went to lunch at Olive Garden with Amanda and Kim today. Great food, and great conversation!! Scrapbooking of course!! It was nice to have a "girls day out"!!

My mind is still spinning from all of this blog stuff. I am not the most computer-oriented person.
